Pencils Without Borders

Social media-based Black Pencil Project is a civilian volunteer group that brings pencils, pens and paper to children of barrio schools found in remote Philippine communities.

We Are Black Pencil Project

Changing The World One Pencil At A Time

Filipino school children in remote areas suffer the lack of something many take for granted. Black Pencil Project is a collective initiative committed to provide school supplies like pencils, pens and paper to public elementary school children living in remote and indigenous communities in the Philippines, particularly during back-to-school season.

We believe that children must be enrolled at the right age and appropriate grade level to achieve full learning potentials.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Pencils for the Barrio

Donate-One-Pencil

Support campaign drives to collect pencils and other light school materials to replenish supplies sent to project communities.

School In A Box

Adopt-A-School

Sponsor a barrio school with complete grade and culture-sensitive study packs, teacher's kits, and learning resources modules.

Pencil Treks

Climb-For-A-Cause

Join organised back-to-school-outreach to deliver vital school supplies to remote and indigenous communities in time for opening of classes.

Free school supplies given during the opening of classes help increase enrolment and school participation of children and their community.

Inspiring Photography

Shooting Your Why's

We began as a photography-based volunteer group that organizes photo treks (weekend warrior program) in picturesque Ifugao province. During photo safari tours, light school materials such as pencils and crayons are collected and are brought efficiently and inconspicuously to the communities. The idea of traveling off-the-beaten paths and for-a-cause captures a participant’s interest. They later became the organization’s avid volunteers and excellent ambassadors, promoting the advocacy on a personalized level through pictures and words.

PHOTOGRAPHY-FOR-A-CAUSE

Photo Treks

Cultural Immersion

Travel and photo safari immersions with the goal to support education, cultural heritage and environment conservation.

Photo Clinics

#UnSelfie Campaign

Photo Culture

Grassroots Photography

Basic photography workshops with the goal to inspire community-based photographers to organise camera clubs.

Photography and travel for-a-cause captures the advocacy’s unique experiential nature of creating powerful images that inspire, motivates and put people into action
