National Bookstore Taps Black Pencil Project for Project Aral

“To reach out to more communities across the country”  - United with the same vision, National Bookstore Foundation partners with Black Pencil Project for its Project Aral Program for the school year 2009-2010. Through a back-to-school campaign drive called “Project Aral”, which was launched last May, the foundation came up with Project Aral Packs available in all National Bookstores nationwide.

Initially, we thought the items will be ready by June but we were overwhelmed by the success of the program from the time we launched the project, so we decided to do the turnover in time for June opening” said Bea Andrea Torres, NBS Foundation Program Coordinator.

Project Aral Packs are comprised of basic school materials needed by Grade 1 up to Grade 3. National Bookstore Foundation acknowledged Black Pencil Project’s advocacy to support public elementary education nationwide.

Black Pencil Project is more than pleased to collaborate with National Bookstore on our little advocacy. Before, we had to raise the materials among ourselves, which makes our turn around time a bit longer. Now, we can concentrate more on reaching the communities and in discovering more who needs collective support like Project Aral” Mon Corpuz of Black Pencil Project added.

Black Pencil Project is committed to deliver the Project Aral Packs to six (6) remote and indigent communities nationwide in Camiguin Norte (Babuyan Islands), Pula & Guinuhon (Ifugao), Labney & Dueg (Tarlac) and Maguintalunan (Davao Del Norte) this June.

Black Pencil Project “Lapis Para Sa Batang Eskuwela Program” is inviting volunteer individuals and organizations to join the pencil treks scheduled every weekend of June. For more information about Black Pencil Sherpa Program, please email info@blackpencilproject.org.
