Black Book – another black idea
Black Pencil Project prepares the flight of a “Black Book” – envisioned to go on a 24-week journey around remote communities all over the country through civic volunteers, mountaineers, photo journalists, travel photographers, the black hard-bound notebook (Moleskine) is expected to return on June 2010, dog-eared, and is filled with first-hand accounts of volunteerism, testimonies, inspiring heroic deeds and inspiring anecdotes as observed by their respective contributors.

“This book is a working tribute to all volunteers not only of Black Pencil Project, we wanted to follow their civic work, their adopted communities and their on-going plights. There are heroism happening everywhere on our everyday life and those found in the mountains sadly were the ones hardly heard or remain unnoticed at all.” Mon Corpuz explained.
The project was inspired by local traveling journal popularized by Filipino Flickr group Lagalag.
Very aptly to Black Pencil Project advocacy, the proponents expect people to write or draw anything on it. “A waypoints will also be helpful particularly those far-flung communities” Mon Corpuz added. Hopefully we could set up a web facility to monitor and keep track of the Black Book’s location for the interest of Black Pencil Project’s followers.
The Black Book is expected to commence travel on January 2010. Interested custodian of the Black Book can send email to info@blackpencilproject.org.
