Pencils From Dubai Reached Black Pencil Project Office In Manila
Makati City – A big box filled with school supplies from pencils to crayons surprised Black Pencil Project office. Received last August 12, 2010, the balikbayan box was traced its origin from Dubai. “This is amusing, now we got a real balik-bayan box!” shared Program Director Mon Corpuz while inspecting the cargo. He added that Black Pencil Project uses balik-bayan boxes during fundraising activities as collection boxes. “We buy balik-bayan boxes, reverse it to hide the markings and put official stickers on it so our donors can display it in front of their office lobbies or stores.” Corpuz added.
Spearheaded by a Filipino photography community in Deira, Dubai, the group fundraised the materials for Black Pencil Project last year with the project Click For A Cause.
